Job summary

DLA Disposition Services is seeking an Environmental Protection Specialist to ensure compliance across field activities and disposal operations. The role involves auditing TSDFs, evaluating hazardous waste properties, and advising on regulatory requirements to support agency programs.

The incumbent will manage data systems, develop corrective actions, and prepare reports and training materials for leadership and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Specialized Experience in hazardous property and waste disposal
• Experience applying environmental laws and regulations to manage shipments and disposal programs
• Experience using environmental management systems to log, track, and report material

Responsibilities

• Serve as SME on environmental requirements and disposal processes
• Audit hazardous waste disposal contractors and TSDFs for compliance
• Analyze findings, identify trends, develop corrective action plans
• Interpret and apply Federal, state, and local environmental regulations (RCRA, TSCA, CERCLA)
• Represent the agency in meetings with military services and other federal agencies
• Develop and implement new environmental policies and procedures
• Manage HMMSHWD database for data accuracy
• Develop and present reports, briefings, and training materials
