Job summary

The City of Los Angeles is seeking an Environmental Compliance Inspector to monitor and investigate environmental compliance in the public right-of-way, storm drain system, waterways, and receiving waters; perform field tests of harmful liquids, gases and solids; identify health hazards; and prepare investigation reports for criminal cases.

Inspect construction sites and industrial facilities for conformance with solid resources, storm water and pretreatment regulations; enforce applicable laws;

Qualifications

• Two years of full-time paid experience in a position at the level of Laboratory Technician in physical or chemical testing, in wastewater, solids, recyclables and/or storm water treatment; or

Responsibilities

• Monitors and investigates environmental compliance, inspects construction sites and industrial facilities for conformance with solid resources, storm water and pretreatment regulations; prepares investigation reports and provides testimony in court; oversees remediation of chemical spills and disposal of wastes; may be required to use a personal vehicle and perform weekend/evening work.
