Job summary

Amsted Rail in Keokuk, IA is seeking an Environmental Engineer to develop and drive the site's environmental programs, ensure compliance with air, water, waste, and tank regulations, and reduce the facility's environmental footprint.

You will oversee inspections, permit updates, spill response, and employee training, work with operations and maintenance teams, and coordinate data reporting using Microsoft Office and tracking systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering/Sciences or a related technical field is required.
• 3–5 years of environmental experience in manufacturing or heavy industry.
• Working knowledge of federal and state environmental regulations.
• Experience with Title V air permits, NPDES permits, Large Quantity Generator of Hazardous Waste, Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasures Program, Tier 2 and Toxic Release Inventory Reporting.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to work with operations and hourly staff to implement environmental improvements.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and basic environmental data tracking and reporting systems.

Responsibilities

• Owns development and maintenance of environmental programs and initiatives.
• Conducts inspections, prepares reports, updates permits, and supports air, water, waste, and tank compliance.
• Collects data for environmental reporting with operations.
• Leads spill response program and training for employees.
• Coordinates remediation activities with project teams.
• Represents the facility during agency inspections.
