Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a meticulous Chemical/Environmental Engineer specializing in Environmental Compliance for a role based in Paarl. The candidate will monitor emissions and waste streams, develop management plans, and ensure regulatory compliance with SA environmental legislation.

The position requires 3–5 years in environmental compliance within the chemical/manufacturing sector, with strong data analysis and reporting skills, and a hybrid work arrangement is offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or Environmental Engineering.
• 3-5 years of experience in environmental compliance, preferably within the chemical or manufacturing sector.
• In-depth knowledge of South African environmental legislation and permitting processes.
• Experience with environmental monitoring equipment and data analysis.
• Strong understanding of waste management principles and pollution control technologies.
• Excellent report writing and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Monitor emissions, effluents, and waste streams to ensure compliance with environmental permits and regulations.
• Develop and implement environmental management plans and pollution prevention strategies.
• Conduct environmental impact assessments for new projects and process modifications.
• Manage hazardous and non-hazardous waste disposal programs in accordance with legal requirements.
• Prepare and submit environmental reports to regulatory agencies.
• Liaise with regulatory bodies, consultants, and internal stakeholders on environmental matters.
