Job summary

Town of Oxford is seeking a Part-Time Conservation Agent to support the Conservation Commission. The role reports to the Town Manager and coordinates budgets, permitting, and public outreach, with 15-20 hours per week.

Responsibilities include enforcing the Wetlands Protection Act, reviewing permits, conducting site inspections, preparing notices and minutes, and liaising with town staff and consultants. A degree in environmental science and two years of related experience preferred.

Qualifications

  • Degree in environmental science or related field with public service experience.
  • Knowledge of Wetlands Protection Act and related regulations.
  • Ability to read engineered plans and date tables.

Responsibilities

  • Administer and enforce Wetlands Protection Act and related regulations.
  • Review permit applications and conduct site inspections.
  • Coordinate with Conservation Commission on budgets and procedures.
  • Educate public on conservation regulations and permit processes.
  • Prepare meeting notices, agendas, and minutes; schedule hearings.
  • Record correspondences, attendance, and notices; file documents.
  • Perform field investigations such as soil evaluations.
  • Coordinate hiring and payment of consultants and peer reviewers.
  • Prepare documents in conjunction with Commission decisions.
