Qualifications

  • Five years of civil engineering experience with an Engineer-in-Training certificate; or four years with an associate degree; or one year with a bachelor’s degree.
  • Eligibility for EIT and licensure considerations per PA board.
  • Experience in reviewing engineering plans and regulatory compliance is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Permit Review: Evaluate mining permit applications for compliance with laws and engineering standards.
  • Engineering Analysis: Assess drainage, stability reports, and reclamation designs.
  • Subsidence Evaluation: Review subsidence control plans and mitigation measures.
  • Field Coordination: Participate in site reviews and collaborate with inspectors and agencies.
  • Technical Guidance: Support staff and consultants on engineering issues.
  • Project Recommendations: Prepare decisions and recommendations based on engineering judgment.

Bachelor's degree in civil engineering
Associate’s degree in civil engineering technology
Engineer-in-Training certificate
