Job summary

Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Spring, MD, is seeking an Environmental Care Technician for a full-time day shift (7:00 am–3:30 pm) with every-other-weekend rotation. The role reports to the Assistant Director of Environmental Services and Housekeeping Supervisor, focusing on safe, courteous, and efficient cleaning for patients and staff.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED (preferred) and experience in healthcare or related cleaning.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Experience as housekeeper in healthcare, hotel or commercial cleaning preferred.
• Ability to read and comprehend written and oral instructions.
• Ability to read and write information in English regarding duty lists and policies.
• Ability to use alphanumeric pager and telephone.
• Able to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Be assigned to work with Assistant Director of Environmental Services or Housekeeping Supervisor on a regular basis.
• Environmental Care Technician uses cleaning techniques and operates department equipment.
• Provide timely, courteous, and competent services for patients, visitors, and staff.
• Accept additional assignments to support functions as needed for service excellence.
• Evenings and weekends may involve direction from the Supervisor as assigned.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Purpose

• Environmental Care Technician is guided by basic knowledge of cleaning techniques and procedures, operation and use of department equipment and supplies.
• Responsible for the timely, courteous, and competent services rendered in a safe manner for patients, visitors, and hospital staff.
• Accepts additional assignments related to support functions as is needed to provide service excellence to patients, visitors, and hospital staff.
• On evenings and weekends could also receive direction from the Supervisor as assigned by the Assistant Director of Environmental Services.
• Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Experience: Some on-the job experience as a housekeeper in Healthcare, Hotel, or Commercial cleaning preferred.
• Knowledge: Ability to read and comprehend instructions in writing and orally.
• Skills: Ability to read and write information in English regarding Duty list, Instructional information, and policies and procedures.
• Ability to use alphanumeric pager and telephone.
• Able to work independently.

Pay Range: $18.00 - $21.42 Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
