Job summary

Atlantic Health Morristown Medical Center is seeking a Full-Time Environmental Aide I (Housekeeping) for the Environmental Services Department. Hours are 11:00PM - 7:00AM, including every other weekend. Starting rate $18.50/hr.

This position focuses on cleaning nursing units, patient rooms, and hospital areas in Morristown, NJ. Essential duties include disinfecting, restocking carts, handling spills, and reporting maintenance issues.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED/Equivalent required or will obtain within 1 year of employment.
• Must be able to read, write and speak English.
• Must be able to bend/push/pull/lift 50LBS.

Responsibilities

• Cleans nursing units, patients’ rooms and designated areas using appropriate equipment.
• Follows cleaning, disinfecting and deodorization policies and procedures.
• Cleans major spills and responds to pages promptly.
• Cleans and restocks housekeeping carts at end of shift.
• Removes trash and linen from hospital areas.
• Prepares cleaning solutions and handles bio-hazard materials safely.
• Monitors environmental needs and reports repairs to maintenance.
• Attends monthly department meetings and stays updated on procedures.
• Handles moderately complex issues and refers more complex ones to senior staff.
• Cleans bodily fluids as part of duties.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

• Utilizes appropriate cleaning equipment in cleaning all nursing units, patients’ rooms and all other designated facility areas, including the floors, woodwork, sills, vents, sinks, furniture etc.
• Follows the department's policies and procedures on cleaning, disinfecting and deodorization.
• Cleans up major spills when necessary and responds to pages in a timely manner.
• Cleans and restocks housekeeping carts at the end of each shift.
• Removes all trash and linen within the hospital.
• Follows directions carefully for cleaning solution preparations and handling of bio-hazard materials.
• Makes periodic checks for environmental needs in the assigned area.
• Reports any repairs to maintenance.
• Keeps abreast of changes in environmental services by attending monthly department meetings.
• Handles moderately complex issues and problems and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff.
• Position includes cleaning of bodily fluids.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• HS Diploma or GED/Equivalent required or will obtain within 1 year of employment.

Relevant Experience:

• Prior institutional housekeeping experience preferred.
• 1-2 years of customer service experience in healthcare, hospitality or relevant area preferred.
