Job summary

Atlantic Health Chilton Medical Center in Pequannock Township, NJ is seeking a Part-Time Environmental Aide I (Housekeeping) for the Environmental Services Department. Shifts are 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM, including weekends. Starting rate is $18.50 per hour.

Responsibilities include cleaning nursing units and patient rooms, restocking carts, responding to spills, and following cleaning and safety procedures. Candidates should have a HS diploma or GED and be able to read, write and speak English;

Qualifications

• Ability to lift, push, pull up to 50 lbs.
• Solid work history preferred.
• Hospital housekeeping experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Clean nursing units, patient rooms and designated areas with appropriate equipment.
• Follow department cleaning, disinfecting and deodorization procedures.
• Clean up major spills and respond to pages in a timely manner.
• Restock housekeeping carts and remove trash/linens at end of shift.
• Report repairs to maintenance and participate in department meetings.

Essential Function/Responsibilities

• Utilizes appropriate cleaning equipment in cleaning all nursing units, patients' rooms and all other designated facility areas, including the floors, woodwork, sills, vents, sinks, furniture etc.
• Follows the department's policies and procedures on cleaning, disinfecting and deodorization.
• Cleans up major spills when necessary and responds to pages in a timely manner.
• Cleans and restocks housekeeping carts at the end of each shift.
• Removes all trash and linen within the hospital.
• Follows directions carefully for cleaning solution preparations and handling of bio-hazard materials.
• Makes periodic checks for environmental needs in the assigned area.
• Reports any repairs to maintenance.
• Keeps abreast of changes in environmental services by attending monthly department meetings.
• Handles moderately complex issues and problems and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff.
• Position includes cleaning of bodily fluids.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• HS Diploma or GED/Equivalent required or will obtain within 1 year of employment.
• To provide a safe environment to our patients, we require that all candidates must be able to read, write and speak English.
• Solid work history a must.
• Need to meet the fit testing requirement.
• Must be able to lift, push, pull up to 50 lbs.

Relevant Experience

• Prior experience in housekeeping in either a hospital or institutional setting or a related field preferred.
• Prior Floor-care experience preferred.
