Job summary

Atlantic Health Morristown Medical Center is seeking a Full-Time Environmental Aide I (Housekeeping) for the Environmental Services Department. Required hours are 3:00PM - 11:00PM, including every other weekend. Starting rate $18.50/hr.

Responsibilities include cleaning nursing units and patient rooms, restocking carts, handling bio-hazard materials, and adhering to cleaning and disinfecting procedures. Prior housekeeping experience in healthcare is preferred.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED required or will obtain within 1 year of employment.
• Must be able to read, write and speak English.
• Must be able to bend/push/pull/lift 50LBS.

Responsibilities

• Utilizes appropriate cleaning equipment in cleaning nursing units, patients' rooms and all other designated facility areas, including the floors, woodwork, sills, vents, sinks, furniture etc.
• Follows the department's policies and procedures on cleaning, disinfecting and deodorization.
• Cleans up major spills when necessary and responds to pages in a timely manner.
• Cleans and restocks housekeeping carts at the end of each shift.
• Removes all trash and linen within the hospital.
• Follows directions carefully for cleaning solution preparations and handling of bio-hazard materials.
• Makes periodic checks for environmental needs in the assigned area.
• Reports any repairs to maintenance.
• Keeps abreast of changes in environmental services by attending monthly department meetings.
• Handles moderately complex issues and problems and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff.
• Position includes cleaning of bodily fluids.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Relevant Experience

• Prior experience in housekeeping in either a hospital or institutional setting preferred.
• 1-2 years of customer service experience in healthcare, hospitality or relevant area preferred.
