Job summary

Atlantic Health Overlook Medical Center in Summit, NJ seeks a Full-Time Environmental Aide I (Housekeeping) for the Environmental Services Department. Hours are 11:00 AM - 7:00 PM, including every other weekend. Starting rate is $18.50/hr.

Responsibilities include cleaning patient rooms and units, following cleaning protocols, restocking carts, handling biohazard materials, and responding to maintenance requests; requires HS diploma and English proficiency.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED/Equivalent required or will obtain within 1 year.
• Must read, write and speak English.
• Must be able to bend/push/pull/lift 50LBS.

Responsibilities

• Utilizes cleaning equipment to clean nursing units, patients' rooms, and designated facility areas.
• Follows cleaning and deodorization policies and procedures.
• Cleans up major spills and responds to pages promptly.
• Cleans and restocks housekeeping carts at end of shift.
• Removes all trash and linen from hospital.
• Follows directions for cleaning solutions and bio-hazard materials.
• Keeps abreast of environmental services changes by attending department meetings.
• Handles moderately complex issues and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff.
• Position includes cleaning of bodily fluids.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

• Utilizes appropriate cleaning equipment in cleaning all nursing units, patients' rooms and all other designated facility areas, including the floors, woodwork, sills, vents, sinks, furniture etc.
• Follows the department's policies and procedures on cleaning, disinfecting and deodorization.
• Cleans up major spills when necessary and responds to pages in a timely manner.
• Cleans and restocks housekeeping carts at the end of each shift.
• Removes all trash and linen within the hospital.
• Follows directions carefully for cleaning solution preparations and handling of bio-hazard materials.
• Makes periodic checks for environmental needs in the assigned area.
• Reports any repairs to maintenance.
• Keeps abreast of changes in environmental services by attending monthly department meetings.
• Handles moderately complex issues and problems and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff.
• Position includes cleaning of bodily fluids.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• HS Diploma or GED/Equivalent required or will obtain within 1 year of employment.
• Must be able to read, write and speak English.
• Must be able to bend/push/pull/lift 50LBS.

Relevant Experience:

• Prior institutional housekeeping experience preferred.
• 1-2 years of customer service experience in healthcare, hospitality or relevant area preferred.
