Chestnut Hill Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Wilkes-Barre, PA is seeking a dependable Housekeeping Aide to join our Environmental Services team. You will help maintain a sanitary, welcoming environment for residents, families and staff, supporting infection prevention and safety.

Responsibilities include cleaning floors, rooms, baths and common areas, restocking supplies, and following established schedules.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Healthcare or long-term care experience is a plus.
• Knowledge of cleaning techniques, sanitation and infection control.

Responsibilities

• Sweep, vacuum, mop floors and disinfect to keep areas sanitary.
• Clean and sanitize resident rooms, bathrooms and common areas.
• Polish furniture, fixtures and surfaces as assigned.

What You’ll Do

• Clean floors by sweeping, vacuuming, dust mopping, wet mopping, and disinfecting
• Clean and polish furniture, fixtures, ledges, and heating/cooling units
• Clean and sanitize resident rooms, bathrooms, and common areas
• Clean windows, mirrors, walls, and ceilings as assigned
• Deodorize, disinfect, and spot-clean carpets and upholstered surfaces
• Empty trash receptacles, replace liners, and transport waste to designated disposal areas
• Refill soap, paper towel, toilet tissue, and hygiene dispensers
• Clean offices, hallways, stairways, elevators, and entrance areas
• Clean and prepare vacant rooms for new admissions
• Follow established cleaning schedules and infection control procedures
• Maintain equipment in good working condition and report hazardous conditions promptly
• Properly clean and store equipment at the end of each shift
• Inform supervisors of supply needs and inventory shortages
• Replace burned-out light bulbs in assigned work areas as needed
• Cross-train in laundry services when required
• Attend departmental meetings and in-service training sessions
• Practice safe work habits at all times
• Maintain confidentiality of resident information and protect resident rights
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Previous housekeeping experience preferred
• Healthcare or long-term care experience is a plus
• Knowledge of cleaning techniques, sanitation practices, and infection control procedures
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Reliable attendance and a strong work ethic

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
• Frequent bending, stooping, stretching, and reaching required
• Ability to move furniture and equipment as needed
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
• Ability to safely operate housekeeping equipment and carts
