Title: Health, Safety and Environmental - HSE Manager
Location: Westborough, MA 01581
Contract: 5 months
SHIFT/WORKING HOURS: Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm local time
Job Description:
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Onsite at client. It's an automated/modern manufacturing site. Very well lit with amenities. There are safety shoes required and a vest that is required.
GREAT CANDIDATE: Looking for someone who has been a safety manager (HSE) and has project management experience - specifically having to do with contractor management (bringing in xyz company to support HVAC, concrete work, etc.). Need 8-10 years of experience.
Certification Requirements:
- Has at least one of these certifications: Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Certified Hazardous Material Manager (CHMM), Occupational Health and Safety Technician (OHST).
Functional Safety Knowledge:
- Has functional safety knowledge including but not limited to, OSHA, NFPA, ANSI, ISO, ACGIH, and NIOSH.
Software Knowledge:
- Has knowledge of collaborative software such as ASANA, Autodesk, etc.
INTERVIEW PROCESS: 2 rounds of interviews. 1st round phone, 2nd in person.
JOB SUMMARY:
The purpose of this position is to support and assist in the management of HSE (Environmental Health and Safety) programs relative to a specific account or market area.
Infrastructure and Project Delivery
- Collaborating with project managers, contractors, and regulatory agencies to ensure alignment of safety objectives and adherence to legal requirements, and client procedures.
- Identifying potential hazards and risks associated with the project activities, and developing strategies to mitigate them effectively.
- Act on behalf of the client to ensure procedures and policies are utilized based on construction activities.
- Evaluation of contractor’s performance and advise project managers and leadership.
Safety Documentation
- Review contractor safety plans for conformance to site procedures, identify gaps, and establish mitigation.
- Maintain accurate records of all contractor safety programs and requested documentation.
Required Skills:
- Functional safety knowledge including but not limited to, OSHA, NFPA, ANSI, ISO, ACGIH, and NIOSH.
- Knowledge of collaborative software such as ASANA, Autodesk, etc.
Culture:
Promote safety through all applicable responsibilities through problem solving, communication, and relationship building.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists in Managing HSE programs and initiatives to meet regulatory requirements and HSE needs of a client account(s).
- Evaluates new and existing programs to assess suitability and the need for changes.
- Support the process for monitoring injury, illness, and incident related performance within the assigned account, or market area.
- Support the development and implementation of strategic solutions that will improve the performance results as required.
- Acts as a resource to staff and internal customers as the HSE subject matter expert.
- Provides direct and timely advice and information to the management responsible for the account, market area, or other assigned area of responsibility in matters related to HSE performance, compliance, trends, and concerns.
- Assists in overseeing specific HSE plans, playbooks, and procedures for the assigned account or market area, making certain playbooks are current, complete, and effectively implemented.
- Identifies opportunities to reduce costs while enhancing quality of services.
- Responds to customer member concerns regarding HSE matters.
- Establishes work schedules and assigns work to staff members.
- Ability to travel to various sites within account region as needed. Other duties may be assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides formal supervision to individual employees within single functional or operational area.
- Recommends staff recruitment, selection, promotion, advancement, corrective action, and termination.
- Plans and monitors appropriate staffing levels and utilization of labor, including overtime.
- Prepares and delivers performance appraisal for staff.
- Mentors and coaches team members to further develop competencies.
- Leads by example and models behaviors that are consistent with the company's values.
