What’s the job?

The EH&S Manager reports to the Senior Plant Manager at CertainTeed Gypsum Silver Grove, KY. They will provide leadership and guidance to all employees to continuously improve plant safety, health, and environmental metrics to world-class levels by engaging and interacting with all employees at the Silver Grove, KY Gypsum Plant.

• Implement all Saint Gobain EHS initiatives and the site’s environmental and safety management system.
• Coordinate communications with regulatory agencies regarding environmental, health, and safety issues.
• Conduct training for support function facility personnel related to EHS matters.
• Manage contractor training, permits, and audits.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including air and greenhouse gas permitting, reporting, and documentation.
• Develop and implement the organization’s safety program within the US business.
• Train support teams on occupational safety topics such as WHMIS, HAZCOM, hazard identification, and accident investigation.
• Consult on equipment and facility safety design and use.
• Monitor compliance with relevant legislation and prepare required reports.
• Lead investigations of serious accidents and injuries.
• Manage Worker’s Compensation programs and claims.
• Perform SMAT and TASK audits and facilitate related training.
• Assist in regulatory compliance for air, water, TRI, and SDS permitting and reporting.
• Support other EHS functions at the site and region as needed.

What do you bring?

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Health & Safety or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 4 years’ practical experience in EHS, including emergency response.
• At least 4 years of safety experience in an industrial or manufacturing multi-site environment, preferably in the gypsum or similar industry.
• Experience with safety training programs and compliance, demonstrating a hands-on approach with tangible results.
• Excellent communication skills across all organizational levels, with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
