This position oversees EHS compliance across aluminum investment casting, foundry, machining, heat treatment, finishing, inspection, assembly, and shipping operations. Responsibilities include identifying workplace hazards, implementing corrective actions, conducting employee training, investigating incidents, maintaining required records, and ensuring compliance with applicable OSHA, EPA, New Jersey, and local requirements.

The successful candidate will be a visible, hands-on presence on the manufacturing floor, working closely with management, supervisors, employees, Quality, Maintenance, Engineering, and Human Resources to promote a strong safety culture.

This opportunity is ideal for an EHS professional who combines technical expertise with practical judgment, effective communication, and the ability to work collaboratively in an active manufacturing environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Safety & OSHA Compliance

  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive environmental, health, and safety programs.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable OSHA regulations, including 29 CFR 1910 General Industry Standards.
  • Conduct routine safety inspections, identify unsafe conditions and practices, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Perform job hazard analyses (JHAs), risk assessments, and workplace hazard evaluations.
  • Monitor compliance with machine guarding, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), PPE, electrical safety, fall protection, confined spaces, powered industrial trucks, and respiratory protection.
  • Maintain required OSHA records, logs, postings, and documentation.
  • Coordinate regulatory inspections and respond to OSHA inquiries.
  • Establish and monitor safety performance metrics, KPIs, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Manufacturing & Foundry Safety

  • Identify and control hazards associated with aluminum investment casting, molten metal, furnaces, and high-temperature processes.
  • Evaluate risks involving foundry equipment, CNC machinery, grinding, cutting, finishing, and material handling operations.
  • Address exposure to metal dust, airborne contaminants, chemicals, solvents, coatings, compressed gases, and industrial noise.
  • Oversee safe practices involving welding, hot work, cranes, hoists, forklifts, and other production equipment.
  • Partner with Operations and Maintenance to implement effective engineering controls and safe work practices.

Industrial Hygiene & PPE

  • Coordinate industrial hygiene assessments, exposure monitoring, and workplace evaluations.
  • Assess employee exposure to noise, dust, fumes, chemicals, and other occupational hazards.
  • Work with qualified industrial hygienists and external consultants when specialized testing is required.
  • Review exposure-monitoring results and implement appropriate controls.
  • Develop and maintain the PPE program, including hazard assessments, equipment selection, training, and compliance monitoring.

Environmental Compliance

  • Manage environmental compliance programs in accordance with applicable EPA and New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) requirements.
  • Maintain environmental permits, registrations, records, and regulatory reports.
  • Oversee hazardous waste generation, storage, labeling, transportation, and disposal documentation.
  • Manage compliance involving used oil, solvents, chemicals, and other regulated waste streams.
  • Monitor applicable air emissions and air permits, as well as stormwater and wastewater requirements.
  • Maintain the Hazard Communication program, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), chemical inventories, and applicable Right-to-Know documentation.
  • Coordinate environmental inspections, regulatory correspondence, and opportunities to reduce waste and environmental impact.

Incident Investigation & Workers' Compensation

  • Investigate workplace accidents, injuries, near misses, and property damage.
  • Conduct root-cause analyses and develop corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Track corrective actions through completion and identify trends in workplace incidents.
  • Coordinate with Human Resources and workers' compensation representatives regarding workplace injuries.
  • Support return-to-work and restricted-duty processes, as appropriate.
  • Ensure required incident reporting and documentation are completed within applicable regulatory timeframes.

Safety Training & Emergency Preparedness
