Job summary

HUMAN CAPITAL CONSULTING SERVICES LTD is seeking an EHS leader to strategize and operate hands-on safety and environmental programs across a manufacturing-like setting. You will partner with Operations, Engineering, HR, Legal, and site leadership to embed EHS into daily practice and drive measurable improvements.

You will oversee audits, regulatory compliance, training, and incident investigations while mentoring EHS staff and coordinating with cross-functional teams to strengthen performance

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering or related field.
• Master's degree preferred for advanced roles.
• 8+ years of progressive EHS experience with leadership exposure.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and continually improve comprehensive EHS programs in line with regulations (OSHA, EPA, DOT).
• Lead audits, risk assessments, and compliance reviews to identify gaps and improvements.
• Build and sustain a strong safety culture through training, engagement, and accountability.
• Partner with operations and engineering to embed EHS in processes and improvements.
• Mentor EHS professionals and build relationships with frontline and leadership teams.

This is a highly visible leadership opportunity for an EHS professional who can think strategically while remaining hands-on. You'll partner closely with Operations, Engineering, HR, Legal, and site leadership to identify risks, strengthen EHS programs, develop employees and leaders, and continuously improve safety and environmental performance.

What You'll Do:

• Develop, implement, and continuously improve comprehensive EHS programs, policies, and procedures in alignment with federal, state, and local regulations, including OSHA, EPA, DOT, and other applicable requirements.
• Serve as a trusted EHS subject matter expert and resource for leadership and employees.
• Ensure compliance with applicable OSHA, EPA, NFPA, ISO 14001/45001, and other relevant standards.
• Oversee environmental compliance activities, including hazardous waste management and environmental reporting.
• Support sustainability and environmental initiatives as needed.
• Lead EHS audits, inspections, risk assessments, and compliance reviews to identify gaps and opportunities for improvement.
• Analyze EHS metrics and KPIs to identify trends, measure effectiveness, and drive strategic decisions.
• Develop and implement initiatives that proactively reduce workplace hazards, injuries, and environmental risks.
• Partner with operations and engineering teams to integrate EHS into process and operational improvements.

Build a Strong Safety Culture

• Partner with Operations, Engineering, HR, Legal, and other functions to embed EHS into everyday business decisions and operational practices.
• Develop and deliver effective EHS training programs for employees, supervisors, and leadership.
• Promote employee engagement, accountability, and ownership of safe work practices.
• Influence change across all levels of the organization and help create a culture where safety is everyone's responsibility.
• Manage incident investigations, including root-cause analysis, documentation, corrective actions, and follow-up.
• Identify trends and implement preventive measures to reduce recurring incidents.
• Maintain and continuously improve emergency preparedness and response plans.
• Coordinate emergency drills and exercises to ensure organizational readiness.

Develop People & Partnerships

• Supervise, mentor, and develop EHS professionals or site-level coordinators, as applicable.
• Build strong relationships with frontline employees, managers, and senior leadership.
• Provide practical, business-focused EHS guidance that balances regulatory requirements with operational needs.

What You Bring:

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
• 8+ years of progressive EHS experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership role.
• Experience in a manufacturing or similarly complex industrial environment.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, NFPA, ISO 14001/45001, and other applicable EHS regulations and standards.
• Demonstrated experience developing and implementing EHS programs and driving measurable improvements.
• Strong experience with incident investigation, root-cause analysis, risk assessment, and corrective action.
• Excellent leadership, communication, influencing, and change-management skills.
• Ability to effectively engage employees and leaders at all levels.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional certification such as CSP, CIH, CHMM, or similar.
• Experience with EHS management systems such as Enablon, Intelex, VelocityEHS, or comparable platforms.
• Experience with sustainability or environmental reporting initiatives.
• Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement experience.
• Experience supporting EHS programs across multiple sites or locations.

Occasional domestic travel may be required

Additional information:

Compensation: $90,000.00 - $110,000.00
