Job Summary
The Lead Technician I is responsible for leading each phase of mitigation and/or environmental projects from start to finish. This position reports directly to the Supervisor and may be co-managed by the Project Manager and/or Branch Manager. Interfacing with other departments may be required.
Key Responsibilities
Core responsibilities include:
- Maintaining communication with key stakeholders (Branch Manager, Operations Manager, Project Manager, Supervisor, Project Coordinator) regarding project schedules, scope changes, materials, and resources.
- Expediting job completion by tasks such as ordering materials, moving contents, and performing repairs adhering to codes and standards.
- Leading a small team of technicians, providing supervision and direction.
- Maintaining company vehicle and restocking supplies.
- Completing and submitting crew sheets and job notes daily.
- Enforcing safety policies and serving as a role model.
- Mentoring and developing technicians.
- Assisting in safety briefings and training.
- Completing accurate timecards and work orders.
- Maintaining trade skills through ongoing training.
- Building knowledge of company services and procedures for professional growth.
Experience/Requirements
The position requires:
- At least 1 year of experience as a lead technician in construction or restoration/mitigation, or equivalent experience.
- Valid Class C Driver’s License and insurability.
- Understanding and applying safety guidelines.
- Knowledge of company policies and SOPs, with effective communication of expectations.
- Support for technician development.
- Proficiency with hand and power tools.
- Growth mindset, receptive to feedback, and willing to teach others.
- Strong English language skills; bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
- Ability to pass respirator physical and obtain fit test.
- Ability to interpret instructions and industry certifications (preferred).
Safety Requirements
- Adherence to OSHA, EPA, and local safety regulations.
- Use of PPE as required.
- Practicing ergonomic principles.
- Following office safety protocols.
- Completing safety training and reporting hazards.
- Familiarity with emergency procedures.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift 25 lbs regularly and 50 lbs with assistance.
- Perform walking, bending, reaching, crouching, kneeling, climbing, and twisting.
- Prolonged sitting or standing, with alternating positions.
- Repetitive hand and arm motions.
- Operation of machinery and tools.
- Good visual acuity.
Working Conditions
- Office environment with standard equipment and virtual meetings.
- Outdoor restoration sites with exposure to weather and hazards.
- Potential after-hours and weekend work.
Travel Requirements
- Travel to job sites and possibly out-of-town training.
