Job Summary
The Lead Technician I is responsible for leading each phase of mitigation and/or environmental projects from start to finish. This role reports directly to the Supervisor and may be co-managed by the Project Manager and/or Branch Manager. Collaboration with other departments may be required.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain communication with key stakeholders such as the Branch Manager, Operations Manager, Project Manager, Supervisor, and Project Coordinator to discuss project schedules, scope changes, materials, and resources.
- Assist in expediting job completion by tasks such as ordering materials, moving client contents, and performing repairs that adhere to quality standards and regulations.
- Lead a small team of technicians, providing supervision and guidance.
- Maintain the company vehicle and restock supplies as needed.
- Complete and submit crew sheets and job notes daily.
- Model and enforce company policies and safety procedures during services.
- Mentor and coach technicians to support their development and skills growth.
- Participate in jobsite safety briefings and provide training within scope.
- Accurately complete timecards and ensure crew members do the same.
- Submit work orders with measurements, moisture readings, and detailed paperwork for billing.
- Maintain and improve trade skills through ongoing training.
- Expand knowledge of company services, operations, and best practices for professional growth.
Experience and Requirements
The ideal candidate will have:
- At least 1 year of experience as a lead technician in construction, restoration, or mitigation, or equivalent experience through Tech III responsibilities.
- A valid Class C Driver’s License with a good driving record.
- Ability to pass insurability requirements and respiratory physical exams.
- Understanding and application of safety guidelines, with accountability for crew adherence.
- Knowledge of company policies, SOPs, and effective communication of expectations.
- Supportive mentoring skills for technician development.
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and equipment.
- A growth mindset, openness to feedback, and willingness to learn and teach others.
- Good command of English (reading, writing, speaking).
- Ability to interpret instructions like Material Data Sheets and pass medical exams for industry certifications if required.
Working Conditions
This role involves:
- Repetitive hand and power tool use.
- Physical activities such as bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, twisting, and reaching.
- Lifting heavy objects up to 50 lbs.
- Working in confined, unsanitary conditions.
- Overtime, after-hours, and weekend work as scheduled.
