Job summary

Forsyth County Government in Cumming, GA seeks an entry-level technician in the Water Department-Maintenance to perform preventive maintenance and repair of mechanical, electrical and communication equipment at pump stations, lift stations, and water tanks. This is an entry level position in electrical and mechanical water systems.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with 6 months of experience in plumbing, electrical, or mechanical work; or equivalent education/ training.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Participates in preventive maintenance and repair of mechanical, electrical and communication equipment at assigned facilities.
• Assists with maintenance and repairs of electrical systems and components; telemetry and SCADA systems; supports licensed electricians and contractors with high voltage work; assists in installing new equipment and removing/reinstalling motors.
• Inspects, maintains and repairs pumps, transmission gear boxes, fans, valves and other equipment; performs preventive maintenance and part replacements.
• Monitors flow meters, amp meters and pressure gauges to ensure compliance with operating standards.
• Completes paperwork for work orders and maintenance records; interacts with contractors and coordinates access to worksites.
• Remains on-call to perform emergency tasks as needed.
