Job summary

South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice is seeking an entry level specialist to provide case management coordination for youth referred to DJJ. You will assess, interview, plan, monitor and advocate to support rehabilitation and safe communities.

You will interview juveniles and family members, develop needs-based plans, and maintain case files while promoting restorative justice and collaboration with community partners across the state.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in social science or its equivalent.
• Knowledge of federal/state laws and regulations pertaining to juvenile offenders.
• Knowledge of interviewing techniques and fact-gathering methods.
• Ability to develop and work with community collaborative initiatives.
• Ability to manage and organize a caseload.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Must be able to drive and travel throughout the state; lifted up to 25 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary case manager for youth referred to DJJ.
• Interview juveniles, family members, and service providers to assess needs.
• Monitor compliance with court orders and provide alternatives to incarceration.
• Develop comprehensive, needs-based case management plans.
• Advocate for youth and families to ensure timely services.
• Prepare reports, forms and participate in meetings.
• Maintain case files and JJMS data entry.
• Promote restorative justice practices and participate in trainings.
