Job summary

American States Utility Services, Inc. seeks an entry-level Treatment Plant Operator I to monitor and operate wastewater treatment processes, collect samples, and maintain logs. The role requires basic math/chemistry knowledge, a valid driver’s license, and safety training.

You will work under supervision, perform routine maintenance, and be available for after-hours emergencies in a 24/7 operation environment. Strong English communication is essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License.
• Must pass OSHA/USACE safety training.
• Water/Wastewater licenses or ability to obtain within 24 months.
• Basic math and chemistry understanding for water treatment.
• Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
• 1 year as a Distribution/Collections Operator or 2 years in water utility preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform treatment plant rounds and monitor processes using gauges, dials, and SCADA systems.
• Operate pumps, motors, and feeders to maintain plant operation.
• Update logs and perform calculations related to plant activities.
• Mix and add treatment chemicals; handle chlorine cylinders per regulations.
• Install, maintain, and repair plant equipment and lubrication.
