Job summary

Anne Arundel County is seeking an entry-level Wastewater Systems Technician I to operate and maintain treatment plants and pumping stations within the Utility Operations division. This permanent, full-time role offers progression through a proficiency series as skills are earned, with an internal training and certification program.

Employees must report as required, work in all weather conditions, and may perform overtime.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Two or more years of experience in facility plant operations, laboratory work, or mechanical, electrical or instrumentation maintenance work.
• Temporary Class 5A wastewater collection system operator's license required (or obtain within hire/3 years).
• Valid non-commercial Class C driver's license required.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain wastewater treatment plants, booster and pumping stations.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on process equipment, valves, and instrumentation.
• Create, review, and submit operating & regulatory reports and SOPs.
• Conduct laboratory tests and sampling per standards and guidelines.
• Support safety programs and basic housekeeping at treatment facilities.
