Job summary

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory seeks an acoustics and vibration engineer to support submarine reactor and carrier vibration programs. You will perform hands-on lab testing, collect and analyze data, and provide guidance to design communities to mitigate noise and vibration issues.

Applicants should have a technical degree and strong communication and leadership skills to collaborate across disciplines; travel to vendors or fleet sites may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in a related technical, engineering, or science field.
• Experience in acoustics, vibration, shock, dynamics, and/or signal processing.
• Strong verbal and written communication, program management, and leadership skills in a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Conduct laboratory testing on fundamental or prototypic setups with dynamic instrumentation.
• Analyze test data to address noise and vibration issues on submarine and carrier reactor plants.
• Collaborate with cognizant organizations and interface with multidisciplinary teams; may travel to vendors or fleet locations.
