Job summary

City of Lakeland seeks an entry-level Utility Worker in Lakeland, FL, supporting Lakeland Electric ED Engineering. Successful candidates have completed required industry certification and are eager to learn routine engineering tasks and data-driven analysis.

You will train across contracts, construction support, GIS and CAD work, and develop skills in preparing reports, forecasts, and technical documents under supervision.

Qualifications

• Graduate from Lakeland Electric Power Academy/Traviss Energy Academy with required industry certification.
• Ability to learn routine engineering tasks and support functions.
• Willingness to perform both office and field work as part of training.

Responsibilities

• Performs basic level tasks as designated for the position.
• Collect and organize data for use and analysis by higher-level staff.
• Assist in preparing routine reports, forecasts, and memos.
• Learn CAD procedures to produce maps, drawings, charts, and graphs.
• Enter data and run procedures to obtain outputs in proper format.
• Learn to use CAD and GIS tools for plans and drawings.
• Assist with maintaining an efficient filing and records system.
• Support other engineering-related tasks as assigned.
