Job summary

The City of Delray Beach is seeking an entry-level trainee to assist with cleaning and basic maintenance of lift stations, water and wastewater systems. Work is performed under close supervision and may require operation of a vehicle and power tools.

Responsibilities include routine maintenance, installation/repair of lines, digging, lawn work and operating light equipment. Requires a high school diploma or GED and two years of heavy manual labor experience with hand and light power tools.

Qualifications

• High school graduation or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma;
• Two (2) years of experience in heavy manual labor and the use of hand and light power tools.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance on water and wastewater distribution systems, lift stations and/or Water Treatment Plant.
• Install and repair water distribution, sanitary sewer lines, lift stations, manholes, and all related facilities.
• Dig and refill ditches, load dirt and construction materials.
• Perform lawn maintenance activities.
• Operate light power equipment.
