Job summary

AeroVironment is seeking a Mechanical Engineer I in Huntsville to join our design team focused on next‑gen UAV systems. You will contribute from concept to detailed design, build and test hardware, and support manufacturing and suppliers.

Qualifications include a Bachelor’s in Mechanical/Aerospace, 0–2 years in complex mechanical design, SolidWorks proficiency, and hands‑on prototyping experience. This role requires ITAR awareness and a teamwork mindset.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or equivalent.
• 0–2 years of experience in designing complex mechanical systems with hardware transition.
• Experience designing machined parts, composites, plastics, sheet metal, wire and assemblies.
• Hands-on prototyping experience for lightweight robotic systems or similar.
• Experience designing electro‑mechanical systems with thermodynamic constraints.
• Proficient with SolidWorks and MS Office.
• Familiarity with ASME Y14 series standards for drawings.

Responsibilities

• Designs structural components, electro‑mechanical, payload and ground equipment systems.
• Use CAD (SolidWorks) and simulation tools (SolidWorks Simulation, ANSYS).
• Develop manufacturing drawings and BOMs; support design reviews and scheduling.
• Assist project managers with planning; support manufacturing and suppliers.
