Job summary

Dewberry in Orlando, FL is seeking an Entry-Level Roadway Engineer to grow our transportation design practice and support FDOT and municipal projects. This role offers an excellent opportunity to join a nationally recognized multi-disciplined firm and contribute to meaningful transportation improvements in Florida.

You will work with experienced engineers, develop roadway geometrics, and prepare plans and reports while collaborating with Structures, Drainage, and Traffic teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field is required.
  • 0-2 years of relevant experience on public agency projects.
  • EI or EIT license or commitment to obtain within one year.
  • Knowledge of FDOT roadway design criteria and plans production processes.
  • Proficiency with OpenRoads/OpenRoads Designer (MicroStation).
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet schedules.
  • Strong verbal and written communication.
  • Eagerness to learn and contribute to an outstanding team.

Responsibilities

  • Develop roadway geometrics and detailed construction plans.
  • Prepare engineering reports and contract documents.
  • Learn from senior Roadway Engineers and Project Managers.
  • Collaborate with Structures, Drainage, and Traffic teams.

Responsibilities
  • Develop roadway geometrics and prepare detailed plans for the construction of safe and efficient roadways and highways based on applicable design criteria and specifications
  • Prepare engineering reports and contract documents
  • Work with and learn from experienced Roadway Engineers and Project Managers
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with engineers in other transportation disciplines including Structures, Drainage, and Traffic
  • Provide engineering support for projects in construction
Required Skills & Required Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
  • 0-2 years of relevant experience working on FDOT or similar public agency projects
  • EI or EIT license or the commitment to obtain within one year
  • Knowledge of FDOT roadway design criteria and roadway plans production processes
  • Proficiency with Microstation Open Roads Designer
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and complete work in a timely fashion to meet project schedules
  • Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written)
  • Strong desire to learn and be a key contributor to an outstanding team of industry-leading professionals
