Job summary

Gainesville & Alachua County Transportation Planning Organization (GACTPO) seeks an entry-level transportation planner to support advisory committees and senior staff. The role involves developing and implementing multimodal transportation plans through research and analysis, with a strong emphasis on public engagement and coordination with partner agencies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in urban/regional planning, transportation planning, or a closely related field, and one year of professional planning experience.
• An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for the minimum requirements.
• Successful completion of all applicable background checks is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide board and staff support, including preparing meeting agenda packets and minutes for GACTPO boards and advisory committees.
• Assist with development and implementation of federally or state-m mandated documents and plans (LRTP, TIP, UPWP, PPP).
• Collect, analyze, and monitor transportation system performance data and report on performance measures and targets.
• Serve as liaison to local jurisdictions and coordinate with city/county staff to support transportation objectives.
• Support public engagement efforts, including attending meetings and meetings with transportation partners.
• Prepare maps, presentations, visualization tools, and other required planning documents.
