Job summary

Gainesville & Alachua County Transportation Planning Organization (GACTPO) in Gainesville, VA, is seeking an entry-level transportation planner to support advisory committees and senior staff. The role involves assisting in development and implementation of major programs, plans, and activities through research and analysis.

The successful candidate should be willing to learn, be detail-oriented, and comfortable working with the public, coordinating with partner agencies on multimodal planning

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in urban/regional planning, transportation planning, or closely related field.
• One year of professional planning experience or equivalent demonstration of education and experience.
• Successful completion of background checks required.
• Willingness to learn, explore new ideas, and work with the public.

Responsibilities

• Provide board and staff support, including preparing meeting agenda packets and minutes.
• Assist with development and implementation of federally and state-manded documents (LRTP, TIP, UPWP).
• Collect, analyze, and monitor transportation system performance data and report measures.
• Serve as liaison to local jurisdictions and coordinate with City of Gainesville and Alachua County staff.
• Support public engagement, attend meetings, and prepare maps and presentations.
