Job summary

General Dynamics Land Systems seeks an entry-level Tool Engineer for the Joint Systems Manufacturing Center (JSMC). You will work with fabrication, machining, and assembly of tracked and wheeled military vehicles, interpreting drawings and 3D models for manufacturability and developing tool fixtures for production.

The role involves creating standard work, supporting CNC programming, and collaborating with operators and engineers to drive continuous improvement.

Qualifications

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Personal time management and organizational skills.
Able to work in a team-based environment.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications.
BS Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering preferred; technical degree considered.

Responsibilities

Interpret drawings and 3D models for manufacturability with assembly processes.
Develop standard work assignments based on line balancing for varying production rates.
Develop processes and instructions for production operators.
Design fixtures and tool aids for welding, assembly, and machining.
Develop CNC programs for plate processing and 3- to 5-axis mills.
Procure tooling and equipment to support assembly production processes.
Provide cost estimating support for future programs and tasks.
Train manufacturing personnel and provide technical interface with on-site customer (US Government).
Support continuous improvement initiatives.
