Job summary

Advocate Health in Mount Pleasant is seeking a Surgical Technologist to join our Operating Room team. You will prepare materials, assist surgeons, maintain sterile fields, and ensure the room is ready for each procedure.

On-call and shift rotations apply, with comprehensive benefits and ongoing education. The role requires completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program and BLS certification within 6 months.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program.
• BLS certification within 6 months unless exempted by department leader.
• No experience required.
• Knowledge of aseptic techniques and OR equipment.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide a clean, safe, efficient area conducive to patient care with aseptic techniques; assist with gowning, gloving, draping, sterile field, and passing instruments.
• Perform procedures and maintain knowledge of various surgical procedures.
• Ensure environmental disinfection, safety, and efficiency of the operating room; set up/operate equipment; restore room after cases.
• Functions as a Second Assistant as needed.
• Notify staff of equipment and supply issues.
• Transport patients and equipment.
• Maintain specialty carts and ensure equipment sterility and availability.
• Position and transport patients; lift and push/pull with proper technique.
• Provide age-appropriate care according to department standards.
