Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Completion of Surgical Assistant Program is required.
• One year health care experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs surgical hand scrub, gowning and gloving per policy.
• Assists as first or second assistant in surgical cases and supports sterile field.
• Communicates with circulating nurse about instrument status and sterility.
• Prepares OR by arranging equipment and supplies per surgeon’s preferences.
• Assists with patient positioning, prep, and draping during procedures.
• Under supervision, assists with suturing and wound closure as needed.
