Bon Secours is seeking a Surgical Assistant for St. Francis Medical Center to support patient care during procedures under physician supervision. The role emphasizes learning and growth in a structured clinical environment.

The position requires completing a Surgical Assistant Program and the ability to adhere to sterile technique, patient privacy, and collaborative teamwork in a fast-paced operating room.

Formación

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Completion of a Surgical Assistant Program is required.
• BLS Basic Life Support preferred; certification may be required.
• Virginia Board of Medicine registration may be required if employed in Virginia.

Responsabilidades

• Performs surgical hand scrub, gowning, and gloving; assists as first or second assistant as needed.
• Maintains patient confidentiality and follows Universal Protocol to ensure patient safety.
• Communicates instrument status and sterility concerns to the circulating nurse and surgical team.
• Assists with OR case preparation, aseptic technique, and sterile field management.
• Assists with patient positioning, prepping, and catheterization as directed.
• May assist with basic intraoperative tasks under surgeon supervision.
