Job summary

Prairie Engineers, P.C. seeks a Jr. Engineer to contribute to Subsurface Utility Engineering by analyzing subsurface data and turning it into reports and maps.

The position involves occasional travel across the United States and is ideal for those located near the greater St. Louis region. You will use AutoCAD, Microstation, and GIS tools to develop utility maps and deliverables, ensuring accuracy through reviews and supporting SUE work plans for complex projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• FE exam passed or to be taken within the first 6 months.
• 01–2 years of civil engineering experience focused on SUE or utility design.
• Proficient CAD/GIS tools and ability to learn new software quickly.
• Willingness to travel and work nights/weekends as schedules require.
• Valid driver's license and ability to pass background/drug screening.

Responsibilities

• Analyze subsurface data and create actionable engineering deliverables.
• Develop detailed utility maps and engineering drawings using CAD/GIS tools.
• Ensure accuracy of deliverables through quality reviews.
• Support SUE work plans and technical reports for complex projects.
• Coordinate solutions with project teams, clients, and utility owners.
• Maintain safety culture in field and office environments.
