Job summary

Black & Veatch is seeking a Graduate Electrical Engineer for Substation work in the East Region. You will join an employee-owned company focused on infrastructure challenges with opportunities to work on a wide range of projects and grow within the Substation department.

You will perform design-related tasks, develop basic calculations, and collaborate with project teams while learning BV standards and processes. Hybrid work options may be offered after onboarding.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited program.
• Internship experience preferred.
• Basic knowledge of design principles, guides and standards.
• GPA 3.0 or higher.
• Coursework in power systems, motors, transformers, renewable energy, power delivery or three-phase power calculations.
• Strong problem solving and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develops familiarity by reading, understanding and applying departmental design guides, standards, systems, applicable engineering codes and company policies.
• Contributes to preparation of less complex engineering deliverables such as drawings, reports, specifications and studies of limited scope.
• Performs routine research and develops recommendations for equipment and/or materials selection.
• Collects, assimilates, and manages data for engineering work.
• Prepares basic engineering calculations following standard methods and principles used in similar engineering analysis.
• Understands and adheres to budget, schedule, and quality requirements.
• Shares information with others and coordinates with project leadership as directed.
