Job summary

Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. is seeking an Entry-Level Structural Engineer for Summer 2027 in Portland, OR.

You will start your journey by supporting the design team with structural analysis and design under supervision, collaborating closely with the Structural Lead and other disciplines to learn how design documents and models reflect structural requirements. You will build a foundation in structural engineering principles, gain experience across subject areas, and grow as designs integrate

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering, with an emphasis in Structural Engineering
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong interpersonal skills
• This position is project site/hybrid and may require work in local office, project site, or from home (within ~50 miles of site)
• Experience with US building codes including IBC, ASCE 7, ACI and AISC
• Experience with Structural Engineering analysis software, Navisworks and Bluebeam
• Experience designing and analyzing traditional steel and concrete structures

Responsibilities

• Under close supervision, competently perform conventional aspects of Structural Engineering analysis and design
• With guidance, develop judgment in independent evaluation, selection, and adaptation of engineering techniques
• Develop engineering judgement and problem-solving skills, seeking guidance when needed
• Develop knowledge of lateral analysis and design (wind and seismic) and apply building code provisions
• Exhibit attention to detail and perform quality control
• Take responsibility for managing workload and meeting schedule, budget, and quality
• Own your portion of the structural scope and collaborate to deliver client needs
• Recognize when help is needed and reach out to peers and seniors
• Work in a timely, accurate, and cost-effective manner
