Job summary

Simpson Gumpertz & Heger (SGH) hires 2026 graduates with a Master’s in Civil or Structural Engineering for our Houston, TX office. You will assist with design, evaluation, and repairs on buildings and waterfront structures, under senior staff guidance, including on-site investigations and preparation of drawings.

Strong communication, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and in teams are essential. Willingness to travel and learn is expected.

Qualifications

• MS in Civil or Structural Engineering (required or preferred).
• Excellent written, oral, and verbal communication skills; Spanish is a plus.
• FE/EIT certification, preferred.
• Strong attention to detail with analytical and judgment capabilities.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines.
• Familiarity with ETABS, SAP, RISA, RAM, SAFE software.

Responsibilities

• Assist with new design, evaluation, investigation, and repairs for existing buildings and waterfront facilities.
• Perform structural engineering analysis and design tasks in steel, concrete, masonry and wood.
• Collaborate with senior staff and participate in construction administration.
• Document existing conditions and repair methodologies through site investigations.
• Prepare drawings and calculations for project deliverables.
