Job summary

City of Lenexa is seeking a Street Maintenance Worker I to join the Municipal Services (Public Works) team in Lenexa, KS. This entry-level role offers on-the-job training and a path to CDL attainment, with a structured career track through levels I–III.

The position supports the city’s street network, including paving, curb repair, snow removal and routine maintenance. Work is performed under supervision on a crew of five or fewer, with a 40-hour work week Monday through Friday.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required or two years of construction-related experience.
• Must possess a valid Class A commercial driver's license (CDL) with air brake and tanker endorsements and Work Zone Safety Certification within 180 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Maintain street surfaces, bases, curbs, gutters, trails and sidewalks.
• Perform asphalt and concrete maintenance and patching.
• Snow and ice removal on city roadways and parking lots.
• Operate trucks and heavy equipment safely per manuals and inspections.
