Tessier’s Mechanical Contractors in Sioux Falls, SD is seeking a motivated Entry Level Shop Helper/Welder/CDL Driver to learn the sheet metal trade from the bottom up. You will assist journeymen with fabrication, welding, assembly, and installation.

This is a full-time pre-apprentice role with 4-day weeks, early shift, and potential travel. You must have a valid driver's license, pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen, and be willing to obtain your CDL through our training program.

Qualifications

Tessiers Mechanical Contractors, a Midwest premier mechanical contractor and one of the best employers in Sioux Falls, is seeking qualified candidates for a Shop Helper/Welder/CDL Driver position. Our company is growing and we are excited to bring new talent to the team!

The ideal candidate will have the basic skills and abilities, have a strong interest in the field, and is eager to learn the sheet metal trade from the bottom up. Duties include assisting journeymen in fabrication, assembly, welding, and installation of sheet metal products and structures. Other duties include mechanical troubleshooting, loading materials and equipment along with CDL Class A or B driving trucks and general shop work/maintenance. Work will include the use of hand tools and machinery (e.g. forklift). Light travel outside of the shop may be required.

This is afull-timeposition with competitive pay as well as an opportunity to enter a skilled trade program. The position will typically be on a 4-day work week, 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. M-TH, as well as Overtime on Fridays with the possibility of light travel. All applicants must have a valid driver’s license and have the ability to pass a pre-work physical assessment and drug screen. Basic computer skills and a math aptitude are necessary for success in this role. The position requires lifting (up to 50 pounds), bending, standing, and using hand tools and shop machinery. We will assist in you obtaining your CDL.

Pay and Benefits:

You will receive Union scale wages for a Pre-Apprentice, as this will be a Pre-Apprentice position to start. Once schooling in the Union apprenticeship program begins (which we anticipate will be in the fall of 2026), you will be eligible to receive Union benefits as an Apprentice, including health insurance, and pension.

You will also be eligible to enroll in our Employee Stock Purchase Program (ESPP) after 6 months of employment.
