Job summary

General Dynamics Electric Boat Corp. is seeking a Shipfitter in New London, CT to interpret construction drawings and perform layout, fabrication, assembly, and installation of foundations, structures, components and deck packages.

Ability to work on any shift and develop knowledge of weld symbols is required. Applicants should have a High School Diploma or GED (or 2+ years relevant experience) and be prepared for work in various environments, including restricted spaces, with on-site safety

Qualifications

• Must have a High School Diploma/GED or be a current High School Senior OR 2+ years of relevant technical experience.
• 0-5 years of relevant experience to this job description.
• Must be available to train and work on any shift.

Responsibilities

• Layout, fabrication, assembly and installation of foundations, structures, components and deck packages.
• Develop working knowledge of structural weld joint fit-up/weld symbols, burning and grinding operations.
• Interpret construction drawings, test documents, technical manuals, and shipyard procedures.
