General Dynamics Electric Boat Corp. in Groton, CT is seeking a Sheetmetal Worker to interpret drawings and perform layout, fabrication, assembly, and installation of light gage metalwork including ductwork, lockers, cabinets, and bulkheads.

The role may involve confined spaces and requires the ability to use shop machinery and follow shipyard procedures. The ideal candidate has a HS diploma/GED (or be a senior) and up to 5 years of relevant experience, with preferred background in metal

Qualifications

• Must have a High School Diploma/GED, be a current High School Senior OR 2+ years of relevant technical experience
• 0-5 years of relevant experience to this job description
• Preferred: Vocational, Technical and Community Colleges or Apprentice programs
• Preferred: Previous metal fabrication experience
• Preferred: Military shipbuilding, Manufacturing, and Automotive industry experience

Responsibilities

• Interpret construction drawings with basic mathematical ability.
• Layout, fabrication, assembly, and installation of light gage metalwork including air-conditioned ductwork, lockers, cabinets, bulkheads, doors, furniture and Formica.
• Work will be performed using drawings, test documents, manuals, shipyard procedures and shop machinery.
• Be prepared for entry in restricted/confined spaces.
