Job summary

Mead & Hunt, Inc. is seeking an Entry-Level Roadway Engineer to join our Transportation team. The role focuses on roadway geometry, ORD modeling, plan preparation, and standards compliance for a variety of projects.

The ideal candidate holds a civil engineering degree, may be in the process of obtaining an Engineer-in-Training designation, and has coursework or internship in transportation design. Travel and a valid driver's license are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering from an accredited college or university.
• EIT or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• Transportation design coursework or internship experience.
• Experience with ORD or equivalent modeling software.
• Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and Project.

Responsibilities

• Develop horizontal and vertical geometry and typical sections.
• Roadway design modeling using ORD.
• Prepare plans, hearing maps, cost estimates and specs.
• Apply standards from AASHTO Green Book and MUTCD as applicable.
• Assist in analysis, preparation, or modification of reports and designs.
• Attend client meetings and assist in client communications.
• Field observations of roadway conditions and data collection.

Mead & Hunt is currently looking for a highly motivated individual to join our Transportation team as an Entry-Level Roadway Engineer.

Responsibilities include:

• Develop horizontal and vertical geometry and typical sections
• Roadway Design Modeling using Bentley Open Roads Designer
• Prepare plans, hearing maps, cost estimates and specifications
• Identify and apply or use the standards, guidelines and principals in the AASHTO Green Book, Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices, Highway Safety Manual, and other local and national standards
• Assist in the analysis, preparation, or modification of reports, calculations, studies, permits, and designs for projects
• Attend client meetings and assist in client contact and communications
• Field observations of roadway conditions and data collection

A valid driver’s license and some travel will be required.

The successful candidate will have a bachelor’s degree (or higher) in civil engineering from an accredited college or university.

The ideal candidate will have any/all of the following:

• Transportation design coursework/ internship
• Modeling software (ORD)
• EIT or ability to obtain within 6 months
• Experience using MS-Word, Excel, Project
