Job summary

A recognized professional services consulting firm in Columbus, Ohio, is seeking an Entry-Level Civil Engineer to join its Transportation group. This role involves field observations, roadway design modeling, and assisting in project documentation. The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in civil engineering (or be close to obtaining one), and familiarity with software such as Open Roads Designer and AutoCAD/Civil3D. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree (or higher) in civil engineering from an accredited college or university or ability to obtain it within nine months.
• Passed Fundamentals Exam (EIT) or ability to within six months of start date.
• A valid driver’s license and occasional travel will be required.

• Conduct field observations of roadway conditions and collect data.
• Engage in roadway design modeling.
• Prepare cost estimates and specifications.
• Assist in developing design plans.

Responsibilities

• Field observations of roadway conditions and data collection
• Roadway design modeling (Open Roads Designer, AutoCAD/Civil3D)
• Prepare cost estimates and specifications
• Assist in developing design plans
• Identify and apply or use the standards, guidelines and principals in the AASHTO Green Book, Highway Capacity Manual, Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices, Highway Safety Manual, and other local and national standards
• Assist in the analysis, preparation, or modification of reports, specifications, plans, schedule, studies, permits, and designs for projects
• Technical writing
• Attend client meetings
• Assist in client contact and communications

The successful candidate will have

• Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in civil engineering from an accredited college or university or the ability to obtain the degree within nine months of hire date.
