Mead & Hunt, Inc. invites applications for an Entry-Level Roadway Design Engineer to support our Transportation team in Columbia, MD (also in Herndon, VA and Washington, DC).

The position requires a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field and a drive to grow in a collaborative, employee-owned firm. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field from an accredited college or university.
• Transportation design coursework or internship.
• Proficiency with MicroStation or AutoCAD.
• EI or ability to obtain within 12 months.
• Experience using MS Word, Excel, and Project.

Responsibilities

• Develop horizontal and vertical geometry and typical sections.
• Roadway design modeling using Bentley Open Roads Designer or AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Prepare plans, exhibits, cost estimates, and specifications.
• Identify and apply standards (AASHTO Green Book, MUTCD, HSM).
• Assist in analysis, reports, calculations, studies, permits, and designs.
• Attend client meetings and assist in client contact and communications.
• Field observations of roadway conditions and data collection.

Mead & Hunt is currently looking for a highly motivated individual to join our Transportation team as an Entry-Level Roadway Design Engineer in Columbia, MD; Herndon VA; Washington, DC.

Responsibilities include:

• Develop horizontal and vertical geometry and typical sections
• Roadway Design Modeling using Bentley Open Roads Designer or AutoCAD Civil 3D
• Prepare plans, exhibits, cost estimates and specifications
• Identify and apply or use the standards, guidelines and principals in the AASHTO Green Book, Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices, Highway Safety Manual, and other local and national standards
• Assist in the analysis, preparation, or modification of reports, calculations, studies, permits, and designs for projects
• Attend client meetings and assist in client contact and communications
• Field observations of roadway conditions and data collection

A valid driver’s license and some travel will be required.

The successful candidate will have:

• A bachelor’s degree (or higher) in civil engineering or relevant field from an accredited college or university.

The ideal candidate will have any/all of the following:

• Transportation design coursework/ internship
• MicroStation or AutoCAD
• EI or ability to obtain within 12 months
• Experience using MS-Word, Excel, Project

Salary Range: $68,000-$85,000 (annual) – Actual compensation may vary due to other factors such as: experience, skill set or location.
