Job summary

WSP in North Carolina is seeking a Construction Inspector Trainee to join the Sanford/Aberdeen project team. This entry-level role supports inspection, testing, and plan interpretation on highway/bridge construction sites and offers hands-on training.

You will learn field data collection, safety practices, and documentation while working with senior inspectors. Travel may be required to support project needs; strong communication and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• 0-2 years of road and bridge construction inspection and testing experience; EI may be eligible.
• Ability to obtain certifications within 90 days as scheduling allows.
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans.
• Ability to keep accurate records and compute field data.
• Good communication with technical and non-technical audiences.
• Willingness to travel as needed.
• Ability to work independently or in a team.

Responsibilities

• Examine and interpret construction plans, schedules and quantities.
• Support senior project inspectors in inspection, surveying and testing.
• Verify that work is performed safely and in accordance with project plans and specs.
• Perform field data compilation and analysis and processing of data.
• Adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and policies.
• Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
