Job summary

Peraton is seeking a Mid-Level RF Compatibility Test Engineer to support NASA in Greenbelt, MD. You will work in the Compatibility Test Lab (CTL) at GSFC, performing RF compatibility tests for Space Relay and Direct-to-Earth networks, and support ground-network integration and testing.

Responsibilities include configuring equipment, executing test plans, analyzing results, and assisting with automation efforts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering/science/math or related technical discipline with 1–3 years of related experience; alternative paths exist.
• Knowledge of RF systems: frequency bands, RF devices, measurement principles and signal distortion.
• Ability to independently configure and operate RF test equipment (Spec An, Sig Gen, Oscilloscope).
• Experience configuring and operating baseband devices (modems, routers, switches).
• Experience writing test plans, setups, interpreting results and communicating findings.
• Knowledge of coding and modulation techniques.
• Experience with MS Excel, PowerPoint, Visio and Word.
• Ability to obtain a DoD secret clearance, requiring US citizenship.

Responsibilities

• Perform RF compatibility testing per test plans for Space Relay (SR) and Direct-To-Earth (DTE).
• Review requirements, test plans, and procedures and set up test configurations.
• Set up network, data, clock references, RF levels, and fiber optics interfaces.
• Support test team with procedures and knowledge; gather and summarize results.
• Conduct tests at on-site and off-site locations like spacecraft factories and mission centers.
• Perform RF testing with accessibility via RF or baseband interfaces; verify real-time telemetry authentication.
• Investigate new modulation/demodulation techniques and hardware for proof-of-concept tests.
• Develop or integrate networking and automated procedures to modernize the test environment.
• Develop code to integrate COTS software into test automation (data collection, reporting).
• Refine reporting templates to align with data collection and automation efforts.
