Job summary

AtkinsRéalis in New York, NY is seeking an entry-level Rail and Transit Engineer to join our Rail & Transit Team. This role focuses on planning, design, and production of engineering drawings using AutoCAD, MicroStation, and OpenRoads for R&T and other infrastructure projects.

You will perform data collection and basic calculations, prepare sections of reports and cost estimates, and support field observations and documentation under supervision of a senior engineer.

Qualifications

• 0–2 years engineering experience in transportation, project management, or design using OpenRoads, AutoCAD, or related platforms.
• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering from ABET-accredited program.
• Proficiency with OpenRoads, MicroStation, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, ArcGIS, Rhino.
• EI or EIT preferred or ability to obtain within 12 months of graduation.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, design, and production of engineering drawings using AutoCAD, MicroStation, and OpenRoads for R&T and other infrastructure projects.
• Perform data acquisition and analysis, including collection of field data, routine engineering calculations, and evaluation of design alternatives.
• Prepare technical sections of reports, cost estimates, and documentation under supervision of senior engineers.
• Participate in field observations and construction-related activities, including review of shop drawings and data collection for quality control.
• Support project management by coordinating cross-functional activities and compiling project documentation.
