Job summary

The City of San Bruno Police Department is hiring entry-level Public Safety Dispatchers to handle emergency and non-emergency communications. Dispatchers operate on a 24/7 schedule, work with radio, telephone, and computer systems, and maintain confidential records and logs.

Ideal candidates will have strong typing ability, pass required tests (POST/CritiCall), and pursue service excellence in a team-focused environment within the City’s public safety mission.

Qualifications

• Background investigation required for employment.
• High school diploma or GED; college coursework preferred.
• Typing speed minimum with certificate and POST/CritiCall tests may be required.

Responsibilities

• Receives and transmits emergency and non-emergency radio and telephone traffic.
• Maintains and processes communications reports and radio logs.
• Operates dispatch console and CAD system to process information.
• Entries into RMS, CLETS, and NCIC with confidentiality.
• Supports clerical tasks and fingerprinting as needed.
