Qualifications

• 0–2 years of project scheduling, project controls, engineering, or construction experience preferred.
• Heavy civil construction internship/co-op experience preferred but not required.
• Basic knowledge of Primavera P6; training may be provided.

Responsibilities

• Update project schedules under supervision of a senior scheduler or project manager.
• Enter and review activity, resource, and progress data in Primavera P6 and related systems.

Job Overview

Primoris Heavy Civil is seeking an Entry-Level Project Scheduler for our Belton Division to work in both office and project-site environments. This developmental role will support the preparation, updating, and maintenance of project schedules while working closely with project managers, superintendents, estimators, and other project team members. The position is intended for a candidate who wants to build a career in heavy civil construction scheduling and project controls.

Job Duties

• Assist with incorporating subcontractor schedules and information into the master project schedule.


• Participate in periodic project-site visits to grow knowledge of construction processes and methods.


• Assist with timely and accurate updates to project schedules under the direction of an experienced scheduler or project manager.


• Enter and review activity, resource, and progress data in Primavera P6 and related project controls systems.


• Develop and maintain professional working relationships with project staff and subcontractors.


• Support the development of bid and proposal schedules for preconstruction and estimating efforts.


• Review plans, specifications, and available quantity information, and assist with basic quantity takeoffs and duration calculations.


• Assist with the development of baseline CPM schedules.


• Support coordination of the project schedule with field operations, procurement, engineering, and subcontractor work plans.


• Help maintain schedule files, coding, calendars, layouts, and supporting progress records in accordance with company standards.


• Participate in weekly and monthly schedule update meetings with project teams and subcontractors.


• Assist in preparing schedule narratives, progress reports, milestone reports, and supporting documentation for schedule updates.


• Assist with adding, revising, or detailing schedule activities as project scope and work plans develop.


• Learn to identify critical and near-critical activities, schedule trends, and potential issues for review with the Project Manager and senior scheduler.


• Assist Project Managers and field teams with short-term look-ahead schedules and comparison of near-term plans to the master schedule.


• Support the collection and organization of schedule information related to changes, delays, and project impacts.


• Assist with the development and monitoring of recovery or mitigation schedules when required.

Qualifications / Skills

• Zero (0) to two (2) years of project scheduling, project controls, engineering, or construction experience.


• Heavy civil construction, internship, co-op, or field experience is preferred but not required.


• Basic knowledge of Primavera P6 is preferred; training may be provided to a qualified candidate.


• Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.


• Ability to learn construction sequencing, CPM scheduling concepts, and company scheduling procedures.


• Associate or bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, business, or a related field is preferred; equivalent construction experience will be considered.


• Detail-oriented with the ability to organize information and meet established deadlines.


• Ability to follow direction, ask questions, and complete assignments accurately.


• Professional attitude and ability to work collaboratively with office and field personnel.


• Ability to communicate clearly in writing and verbally.


• Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment and travel to project sites as needed.


• Potential exposure to active construction areas, weather conditions, noise, dust, and chemical substances.
