Job summary

The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company in Westbrook, ME is hiring a Retread Technician to join our tire retread operations. You will participate in recapping, remolding, and building tires, starting with inspection and prep through to curing and final inspection.

No experience required; we provide training. The role offers full benefits, competitive starting pay with overtime opportunities, and weekly pay. Shift is Monday to Friday with some Saturdays.

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future.
• Basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Inspect tires to assess if they can be retread.
• Buff the casing to remove worn tread.
• Remove embedded objects, rust, and repair the tire casing.
• Repair the casing with rubber cement or a patch before applying new tread.
• Build the tire by applying new tread.
• Cure the tire to mold the retread application.
• Final inspection to ensure a safe and quality product.

About the Role: What will you do?

As a member of our retread team, you will play a role in recapping, remolding, or in other words, extending the life of an existing tire to get it back on the road!

In our retread plants you will have the opportunity to support the retread process through various stages:

• Inspect the tires to assess if they can be retread

• Buff the casing to remove any worn tread

• Remove embedded objects, rust, and repair the tire casing

• Using rubber cement or a patch, repair the casing before applying new tread

• Building the tire by applying new tread

• Curing the tire to mold the retread application

• Final Inspection to assess a safe and quality product
